Sam P Taking the vote for Best Trick on the Roll-In
One Love Skate on 12.4.12 was a good time.
Here's a link to a bunch of the pictures from the day: One Love Skate: 12.4.12
The bleachers were conducive to loud
music and good conversations
Free Ice Pops and One Love Tracts
Sam Peralta graced us with his presence and was a huge help my MCing and talking to us all about how important it is to do hard things and also to have a relationship with God.

Special thanks to the leadership team of students who made the day so good.

Thank you everyone who posted on your Facebook about One Love Skate! This was a cool way to promote the day and also to get people connected to OneLoveSkateOutreach.com.

We had students who helped with set-up, who kept track of the tricks landed, and who took pictures of the day.

Also, we had two students who made sure to pass out One Love Cards to everyone who was a part of the day.
- That ended up being about:
            -  30 "Isaiah Road Tracts"
             - 30 Original"One Love Tracts"

I love seeing our tracts getting read, and we definitely had several spiritual conversations with follow-up opportunities through these cards.

The best trick competition was on the roll-in, and Michael won the One Love Skate Deck with a Backside Bigspin.

After everyone voted and after the devotional, we did a drawing for a One Skate T-shirt. Braden ended up getting the One Love Skate t-shirt.

Here's a short random youtube video of a few seconds of the competition

The next Best Trick competition will be January 8, 2013. Spreading the news via Facebook and other social media is a huge help! Keep getting the word out about OneLoveSkateOutreach.com, and most importantly live out the love of Jesus!

One Love Skate 11.20.12

OLSO 11.20.12 was a good time!

We had a solid leadership team of youth who helped set up, take pictures, keep track of tricks landed, and cleaned up!

God's shown His ONE LOVE to us, and we want to live that love at the skatepark (1 John 4:9).

We did a best trick competition on the bank today.

After 20 minutes, everyone voted on best trick.

Chantz won 1st place with a Rocket Air.

Daniel won 2nd place with a 360 Pressure Flip.

1st won a One Love Skate Deck, and 2nd won a One Love Skate t-shirt.

We're trying to do best trick competitions on the first Tuesday of each month at 4p.m., and the next one is planned for 12.4.12.

One Love (1 John 4:9),
Josh

p.s. Special thanks to Sam Peralta for all of your insight and leadership with living Jesus' love to skateboarders on Maui.

Tuesday's from 3:30-5:00p.m. at Keo

Starting tomorrow, we'll be seeking to live out One Love by helping influence the atmosphere at Keopuolani Skatepark in a positive way.

Because God's loved us, we want to love others (John 13:34-35). From 3:30-5:00p.m. on Tuesday's, we'll be giving away freezer pops, playing music, doing a skate competition, hearing from God's Word, and doing a prize giveaway with hopes to bless the skatepark.

The county of Maui is onboard with us being there, and that's an answer to prayer.

Please continue to pray for safety, salvations, and spiritual growth.

Thanks.

Grace & Peace,
Josh

p.s. We got a bunch of new One Love Skate cards to give away. Contact me at JoshMarburger@OneLoveSkateOutreach.com if you'd like me to get you some.

Skate Ministry as of Late.

What's up One Love Skate Blog Readers?!

Someone blessed us with a sick
Sector 9 longboard to giveaway.
We called a highest ollie competition
to win the longboard
As you read the latest blog, check out some pics we've taken recently while skating at skateparks on Tuesday afternoons.

Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4, and 1 Peter 4 all talk about the fact that in Christ we're ONE Body with many members.

Braden jumping the barrier with three decks on top of it to win the Sector 9 longboard.
Mike blasting some impressive surfer airs
out of the mini-bowl at Keo.
We need all the different parts of the body. (Think of a person made up only of eyes, he or she would be deformed. He'd be able to see but unable to function, and just plain weird looking.)

Well, it's fun to be part of the body of Christ and enjoy skateboarding and the skateboarding community.

Lately, I've been encouraged to see and hear of people giving away tracts and stickers.

Recently different youth leaders have talked to me about two students have grown spiritually after receiving One Love Skate Decks.

One of these students has grown in showing generosity by giving skate lessons to other students, and the other has gotten reconnected to his church. These stories are encouraging to me. It's neat to see evidences of God's grace being poured out through One Love Skate.

One Love Skate is all about connecting with others to share that God has shown us what ONE LOVE is through Jesus
(1 John 4:9).

We love giving away tracts, skateboard decks, t-shirts, and stickers to serve others and help them experience God's grace.

Sick Frontside Air by Braden on the 6'.

We love giving stuff away, but you can also purchase One Love Skate decks for $30, T-Shirts for $10, and Die-Cut Stickers for $4.

If you're interested in any of this merch, you can e-mail me at: JoshMarburger@oneloveskateoutreach.com

Thanks for your prayers and support. Whether you skate or not, continue to be faithful to the calling God's given you to serve His body in the way He has shown you!

New School Year Prayers

Skateboarding let's us connect and share Jesus with others.
What's up One Love Skate blog readers?
I'm excited about this new school year.

I love how Paul starts his letter to the Corinthians: "To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours..." (1 Corinthians 1:2, emphasis added).

In Jesus Christ, there is a supernatural connection with people from all types of different walks of life. It's fun to see Jesus connect people through One Love Skate across denominational lines because of our identity as His children.

One of the best things you can do to support the mission of One Love Skate is to be a faithful prayer (2 Corinthians 1:11). Will you pray these things at least once or twice a week for this new 2012-2013 school year?

Pray for:

1.) Revival on Maui
- That whether through those who are part of One Love Skate or another part of God's church, God will bring many people to live out His One Love on Maui in this upcoming school year.
That One Love would be redefined in our culture to mean God's love shown to us through Jesus Christ.

2.) Favor
- That God would give us favor as we share the Gospel different places in different ways with all kinds of different people.
- That He'd give new opportunities and Ephesians 3:20 action.

3.) Fruit
- That many would come to know Jesus Christ through conversations started because of the One Love Skate tracts, t-shirts, stickers, and decks.
-That Jesus Christ's transformed people will be used to transform Maui by the power of His Holy Spirit.

Some recent evidences of God's grace on One Love Skate:
I've been skating Keo on Tuesdays recently with some Upcountry youth, and I love the bridge that skateboarding can build for the Gospel by opening up opportunities to connect with people. One Love Skate merchandise is being worn and shared all around Maui, and I received a phone call last week with a neat testimony about how a One Love Skate deck given to a student by his youth leaders on the Big Island was refreshing to a student spiritually and brought him back to church. Seek The Most High continues, and people are being encouraged to get in God's Word and feed on His truth. See #SeekTheMostHigh on Twitter.

Prayer is influential and very important (2 Corinthians 1:11). Thanks for supporting what God's doing through One Love Skate by your prayers for revival, favor, and fruit!

Grace & Peace,
Josh

One Love Skate to Ensenada, Mexico with Calvary South Maui

One Love Merch for Ensenada, Mexico
What's up One Love Skate?!
Earlier this week, I was praying with our staff at our church for vision for One Love Skate, and I wasn't sure what all would be going on as this summer is packed for me at PBC with preaching, youth & young adult ministry, family ministry, and youth camp. Plus we're starting AWANA in the fall at PBC, and that makes for a super busy summer.

Sovereignly, the Lord answered my prayers with a call from Jeff at Calvary Chapel South Maui. He asked to set up a conference call for ideas on how to minister to skateboarders in Mexico, and after talking we decided to send their team to Mexico with some t-shirts, stickers, tracts, and a skateboard deck.

They plan to use these resources to build relationships and share Jesus with skaters they come in contact with during their surf and skate ministry mission June 8-17th. It's fun to see God use One Love Skate to help people meet Jesus internationally.

Please keep the Mexico Mission team in your prayers as they travel to Ensenada, Mexico, next week.
Specific prayer requests:
  • Safe travel and uneventful border crossings
  • The visit to Carmen Serdan would be an encouragement to the staff and orphans
  •  The team’s work on the construction projects on the CC Ensenada Bible College campus would be extremely productive
  •  Visits to the orphanage and shelter in Ensenada would be a blessing to the staff, children and residents
  •  The Surf and Skate Outreach would attract many people who will hear about and receive Jesus as their Savior.
  • Boldness and courage to share the love of Jesus with others
Also, please pray that, by God's grace, they can build something that lasts (Nehemiah 2:18). Please pray many people will meet Jesus Christ and that those around them will benefit from the work God does in and through them.

Please pray for them, and please continue to pray for life-change and revival on Maui through One Love Skate. Seek The Most High is going well lately  (http://oneloveskateoutreach.blogspot.com/2012/04/seek-most-high.html). I'm also encouraged to hear of people giving away One Love Skate tracts and having conversations about Jesus with people. You can pray for God's timing on when the next One Love Skate Event will be.

    One Love (1 John 4:9),
     Josh

"And I told them of the hand of my God that had been upon me for good, and also of the words that the king had spoken to me. And they said, 'Let us rise up and build.' So they strengthened their hands for the good work."
- Nehemiah 2:18

Seek the Most High

What's up Christ-followers,
Have you ever read the Bible?
If a girl or guy you liked wrote you a letter, wouldn't you want to read it all the way through?

Well, God, the Creator of the Universe, has written us a 66 book love letter, and it's packed with truth that brings purpose, hope, and joy to our lives.

Starting next Friday, April 20, 2012 - April 20, 2013, we're going to begin a one year journey through God's Word called SEEK THE MOST HIGH.

Proverbs 4:20 - "My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words."

You can copy this plan to your computer, print it out, or look at it regularly online. Below is the link for a Monday-Friday reading plan that includes something every day from the Old and New Testaments, Psalms and Proverbs.

As we learn new things about God, we can share what God's teaching us via the www.OneLoveSkateOutreach.com blog and using other social media.

Pray about if this is something you want to join in on.

Some of you might want to just jump on with a commitment to study just the New Testament if you've already read the whole Bible and feel strapped for time.

However God leads you, let's let this be a time to really hear from our Heavenly Father and listen closely to His words.

Intentionally, let's SEEK THE MOST HIGH together and get to know the God of the Universe better over the next year.

Grace & Peace,
Josh

April 7 Event Pictures

Here are a few pictures from last Saturday's event on April 7, 2012.
Because God's been gracious and loves us, we want to love others and care for our community (Matthew 22:36-40).

We had live rap about Jesus the whole time.
Sam Peralta led some fun games, talked about Easter, and had the skaters get in different small groups with YWAMers that prayed with many of the kids.

We had a carve competition on the vert with cones, a manual competition, a jumping jack competition, and a highest ollie competition.
We also had the privelege of giving away a bunch of t-shirts, stickers, Bibles, pizza, and water.

The weather was nice, and it was a good time. Thanks for praying. For more pics, click here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.596791738516.2056416.110500829&type=3&l=b87d71687d

One Love Skate Interviews in Shelby

If someone asked you who Jesus is, what would your life answer? What about your lips?

While in Shelby, NC visiting family, my friend from High School, Debo, and I interviewed people at the Cleveland Mall with the 5 One Love Skate Questions. These questions included: "Who Is Jesus Christ?"

Here's a video from Monday with the results.

Please pray that the seeds that were sown will result in much fruit that remains for God's Glory. Also, share this video on your twitter, facebook, myspace, e-mail, etc as the Lord leads you so that more people will be challenged with this message.

Grace & Peace,
Josh

p.s. Online documents of the One Love Tracts we passed out are available here (http://www.oneloveskateoutreach.com/page12.html) for you to print out and distribute if God leads you.

Seed-sowing Body life.

What's up One Love Skate Outreach family?
Nicole, Caleb, and I are having a great time of rejuvenation in North Carolina with family. It's amazing to see our son Caleb grow as we regularly feed him. I'm continually reminded that we're all "feeding" and sowing seeds of different habits in our lives, and what we regularly do definitely grows in our lives. Whether it's studying God's Word, discipling others, serving in our church, or even being lazy and undisciplined... What habits are you feeding in your life?

As Christ-followers, as we walk by the Spirit, abiding in Jesus Christ our root, our lives bear fruit that leads to life (Gal 5:16; John 15:5-6; James 1:17-18).

It's fun to see a lot of seeds sown through One Love Skate lately...

Those of you who are fervent, effective prayers, here are some "seed" requests...

*Pray for Discretion, Discipline, and then Diligence as God gives new vision for One Love Skate.

* Pray One Love Skate will be reproducing not just reproducible.
      - We're working on a new tract, and praying that God will lead others to share the Gospel using our resources. We're hoping that it continually reproduces and that others make One Love Skate videos, give out tracts, display stickers, t-shirts, and facebook posts, and that it'll be an awesome movement of God. Ephesians 3:20 stylee.      God, please transform the world as we all learn, see, and live more in light of the FACT that You are the source of the One True Love. Show us as your people that we need to love sacrificially because You have loved us.

* Pray for One Love Skate as we visit Southeastern Seminary next weekend and hit some skateparks in that area --hopefully making new  One Love Skate videos and improving the website soon too.

* Pray for February 29, 2012 as I get ready to speak to about 80 kids at the Warehouse about One Love.

Thanks for the prayers. It's exciting to be around people who are catalytic and encouraging here in NC and from all around the world. In the week we've been here so far, being at and around people from Putnam Baptist Church and Element Church has been super encouraging. The body of Christ is awesome--the way God works through each of our differences as we work together is awesome. I'm praisin' God for His church, and that it's all about Him and not about us (Psalm 115).

Also... Here's a good song:
Are you sowing Gospel seeds that lead to life? Do you have Beautiful feet? (Isaiah 52:7; Romans 10:15). Thanks for praying and participating in One Love Skate.

Grace and Peace,
Josh
